Your first Path-walk went wrong. Solace doesn't tell you exactly what happened, and you don't fully remember either. You came back from somewhere that doesn't exist on any map, or from a time that doesn't add up, or both. The debriefing took weeks. There were doctors, and people who said they were doctors. Your file is heavily redacted, and the redactions are visible to you specifically — you have access to your own personnel record, but the most important pages are entirely black. They put you straight back in the field. You sometimes wonder if that's because you're useful, or because they want to see what you do.

Player choice — +1 to any one domain, −1 to any one other. The choice should reflect what changed during the experience you don't remember. Are you stronger now? Sharper? Less able to feel something you used to feel? Better at something you never trained for?

Whatever happened to you, it changed your relationship with reality in a way that hasn't been fully measured. Once per session, when you would take Catastrophic Failure, you may instead take Failure — narrate it as a half-remembered echo of something that already happened to you. The GM may, at their discretion, narrate the avoidance as cosmically uncanny.
